What Happens in a Cake Smash?

Having a Cake Smash & Splash session with Jo Buckley Photography is a great way to mark your little ones 1st Birthday, although you may decide that you’d just love some gorgeous photographs of your little one having fun regardless of their age; sorry Mum and Dad we haven’t had the courage to run an adult Cake Smash…yet!

Where are the Cake Smash’s held?

As you can imagine a Cake Smash Session is extremely messy, so we hold these sessions in our studio at Krowji in Redruth. We have wipe clean surfaces plus wet wipes and rubber gloves all at hand.

Who buys the Cake?

We purchase the Cake for the session and this is covered in the session fee along with the use of any props and outfits; we check to see if your child has an allergies before purchasing the cake. You can however bring your own cake, some families bake specially for the session in mind.

What does my child wear?

We have a variety of different outfits for your child to wear and these range from fairy wings to tutu’s. We do advise you bring spare clothes for yourselves and your little one.

What happens after the Cake Smash?

After the cake has been destroyed we pop your little one into a vintage bath tub to clean off, we take this opportunity to capture some great photographs of them splashing around in the bubbles.

When will I get to see the photographs?

We need approximately a week to carefully edit the photographs we take, you will be given a date to come back and view the photographs, feel free to bring any family members along.

If you would like to know more about our photography sessions please do not hesitate to contact us to discuss how we can make your session the perfect one.
